PROJECT
Soundtrack is a book entirely written and designed in collaboration with Alice Ravazzi. The project celebrates the role of music in cinema and visual culture through a minimal editorial approach, where design acts as a tool for focus rather than decoration. The layout supports the reading rhythm and reinforces the relationship between sound, perception and visual order.
CONCEPT
The visual identity draws from Swiss-style design for its clarity, precision and neutrality. Helvetica neue is used to ensure consistency, readability and structural balance, while Akira introduces a contemporary tension that offsets excessive rigidity. The result is a controlled equilibrium between typographic tradition and modern visual character, reflecting the ongoing dialogue between sound and image that the book investigates.
PROCESS
The graphic system is built on a 6×4 modular grid supported by a 10/12 baseline grid, ensuring coherence and alignment across the entire volume. Images are treated through two distinct visual approaches: bitmap processing for strong, immediate graphic impact, and enlarged dot grain to introduce depth and texture, evoking the tactile and imperfect qualities of analog sound. Color is used as a narrative device: each composer is assigned a specific hue, turning the palette into a visual coding system that guides the reader and strengthens author identity throughout the editorial structure.
